The club held a boat naming ceremony before the recent AGM to welcome our new Janousek double scull to the fleet. The boat was part funded through an Award for Awards All grant and is the first new boat in nearly 10 years.

The decision on what name for the boat was given to Lewis Hancock as recognition for his years of service and support to the club. Lewis is a vice president and past international oarsman competing at three World championships for Canada. He is one of the few club members to race in a final at Henley Royal Regatta and also rowed for Wales in the Commonwealth Games. Lewis has done a huge amount of work recently on the club and premises. He chose the name Grace after his mother who still lives in his native Montreal.

The club is very grateful to Lewis for his contribution over the years, one picture shows him pouring a ceremonial pint of ale over Grace which is carefully being over seen by Margaret Marshall (president), Gillian Campbell (captain), daughter Niamh and John Partridge (vice president).
