Photo Album to arrive soon: The club are deeply indebted to a Mark Manton and family who have been in touch regarding some old club memorabilia. Mark emailed the club with the following details " My uncle James Norton has recently gone in to a care home and I have been assisting to clear out his house. Amongst the possessions is a photo album that I imagine my grandfather (W.F.D. Norton) or uncle (F.J. Norton) assembled of the semi-formal annual photographs taken of the club.

It includes the same photograph of the Rowing club's opening races day in 1900 that you have on your web page. The set starts from 1895 and goes through to 1914. There is the expected break until 1919 and then on to 1928 with the odd photograph from the annual dinners in 1935-38 plus the "Opening of the new Boat House after the burning of the old one" on September 14, 1935 ... with my grandfather William Norton leading the occasion.

The names of the people in the photographs are indicated on many of them.  There is also a second album which is mainly newspaper articles describing the Closing Day regattas from around the same period and some dinner menu's from the club evenings plus one or two photographs." we are currently trying to organise with mark a convenient date for him to attend the club so that we can take receipt of these and keeping them on display for all to see. watch this space for further details.
