Racing at Bewdley:   Short Version – 3 wins (one a composite).  Here Gillian tells all....

Here is a summary of the weekend

Saturday -1st Division

WMasC 2- ( Gillian & Sue) straight final against Bewdley ( 2 out of their 4) . It was very blustery but thankfully not raining and with a lot of wayward steering by Bewdley . They won by 2 lengths but we had a good solid race to start with, after only 4 outings, so onwards for next year.....

Emily also won a pot racing in a Loughborough mixed 8 [racing as Loughborough – ed.]

Saturday- 2nd Division

WMasD4+ composite with Loughborough (Vicky (l/b) , Gillian, Sue & Emily and coxed by Rachel (l/b cox) . We also borrowed a Loughborough boat.  Won semi final against Minerva Bath by a couple of lengths and then having waited in the rain for the final , completed the final in the sunshine as the last race of the day. The mayor kindly stayed on to present our pots as we beat Royal Chester by 3-4 lengths.

Sunday- 1st Division

MxE2x ( Gillian/ Stuart) - straight final against Bewdley. We won fairly easily although Stuart brought the rain with him- we didn’t get too drenched during the race - just boat rigging and de rigging .

Sunday - 2nd Division

WMasD4+(Kjersti/Sue/Gillian/Emily & Coxed by Mel from Bewdley. We borrowed a boat and cox and despite our best efforts from Mel shouting ( cox box wiring malfunction possibly due to rain) lost to Minerva bath ( different crew from sat) by a canvas . They were about 2 lengths up but we put in an amazing push by stages and frightened them a bit- if only the race was 50m longer, They went on to win the final by a distance .

Stuart then went into win a pot in a Derby F 8+ [entered as Derby RC, but racing for Derwent – I am having the records amended – ed.]

So all in all a relatively successful weekend - onwards to Stourport
