Dear Everybody,

An uneven week, with midweek quiet due to the school holidays, and the weekend busy with (supposedly) two regattas.  Firstly, Saturday’s storm put paid to JIRR, so Jake did not get his racing at Peterborough.  They will not be re-scheduling, so that is it for this year.  A note of sympathy for the organisers, it must be heartbreaking.  Still, Leicester Regatta went ahead okay on Sunday, the weather was actually quite pleasant.

So, Leicester.  Good, but not great.  We had four wins out of fourteen entries.  The Women’s Masters won both their events (coxed four and double scull) Gillian and Kjerstie in the double, joined by Sue and Julie in the four (Will coxed).  And we had two great wins in singles: Jake won semi and final in J14 (the final was a brilliant piece of sculling – very strong opposition from Peterborough), and Josh won his straight final in J17 – again a great scull – even more so considering he hasn’t raced in over six months with exams.  A full report to follow, but the day saw first regatta competition for Sriya, Will, Barney, and Colm – all of whom acquitted themselves well.

Yours,

Lewis
