Dear Everybody,

In terms of Junior sessions, all is very quiet, otherwise, things are happening at a rate of knots.  On Sunday we took delivery of a demonstration boat made by Kanghua, delivered by Eric Sims (ES Rowing).  Eric stood on the dock and told us that he remembered winning his first pot on the Derwent at the age of sixteen, and John was able to tell him which club he was rowing for at the time (Newark).  Nostalgia ain’t what it used to be.

The construction of the Temporary Boat Storage Shed moves on apace.  The racking is up, and enable us to find space for the extra four in the lower boathouse (good preparation for the junior quad to come).  Josh Rhodes takes delivery of his new (well, new to him) Stampfli sculling boat on Tuesday, again the external racking will make storage space indoors avalable.

Robin Delves is on sabbatical for a bit, having broken his left leg in a roller skating accident at the Y-Knot Festival....

Closing Races:  A reminder that the Closing Races will take place on Sunday the 6th of September starting at 11 am.  There will be three events, all in single sculls: The Open Championship, the Women’s Championship, and the Junior Handicap.  Entries will close at noon on the Saturday before, sign up sheet on the green board.

The Club will be racing next Sunday at Stourport, so next Saturday is rowing as usual and boat loading.

 Yours,

 Lewis
