Dear Everyone

The headline news is the JIRR (Junior InterRegional Regatta) trials for the East Midlands squad.  We started with two entries (Jake in J14 singles, and Jake and Sam in J14 doubles), but Sam wasn’t well, so that left Jake.  I put Mistress Shore on top of my car, and took him over to Holme P on Sunday morning (the trials had been moved from Saturday due to the horrendous wind).  Conditions were perfect (well, okay, it was raining – but not windy – very rare).  He sculled well, and whatever the outcome, I was really happy with how he had performed. It was a field of six, with scullers from most clubs in the region, including Notts & Union and Nottingham County.  As it turns out, Jake’s scull was good enough by three seconds, and he will now be representing the East Midlands at the JIRR in Peterborough on 27 April.  Well done Jake!

Also happening this week was the Club’s AGM, at which all current officers were returned to their posts, with the addition that Josh Gledhill was elected Junior Captain.  So congratulations to All! (including Josh).

The regular committee meeting following was happy to elect the following new members:

Tom Newton (Senior), Graham Dean (Gym), Max Hope, Oliver Walker, Lily Burrows (all Juniors), Anna Seifert-Speck, Jemma Brown (both Recreational).  Welcome All!

The committee also regretfully accepted the resignations of Hannah Munns, and Will Doleman.  This is Hanna’s second resignation (she took a 16 month break before re-joining us last April), and was simply not able to find the time for the club.  Perhaps at some point in the future...(third time lucky?).  Will has been with us since August 2013, and has given the club a lot of wins over the years, he will be missed, and we wish him well.

Yours,

Lewis
